CHARMOUTH
A very long time ago - about 180 million years
This is an artist's impression (by courtesy of The Heritage Coast Centre) of the sea that covered Dorset in the Jurassic age.
The dolphin like creature on the right is an ichthyosaur;
to the left is a plesiosaur, together with sharks, ammonites and crinoids.

The length is about  5 meters, the head about 2 meters.

The massive size suggests that she may be of the species Temnodontosaurus platyodeon but confirmation cannot be made until she is cleaned and has been examined by an expert. This photograph shows the state that she was found in with almost all the bone covered in rock, as you can see, there is a great deal of skilled and time consuming work to uncover the bones and expose them in their true glory.
How I found her.
