PREPARING MARY THE ICHTHYOSAUR
AT CHARMOUTH FOSSILS

Report number 5 - on 4th August 2001

This picture shows 2 feet of the centre sections of the jaws with all the teeth exposed.
This is almost the finished state with a small piece to be added at the end.

This picture shows the unfinished centre and the finished end section. The very tip of the jaw is still missing and will be made up if not found. The back piece still has a protective coating on the bone to prevent the acid attacking it. The centre crack was caused by earth movement which broke the jaw but overtime became welded together again.

A close up of the end section showing the teeth.
